I actually chose to splice two scenes together for this opportunity.




The first scene sets up the fact that it's been 3 months since Leigh lost her husband in a tragic accident and she's still having a tough time without him. While she's often numb and goes through life in an apathetic daze, something as small as a donut can still set her off. Grief manifests itself in weird ways.




The second scene is necessary in the overall story because Leigh's husband's brother Danny has always thought that Leigh hates him. Although he was never her favourite person, Leigh doesn't hate him. Her following him to get a doughnut, even though she really doesn't want to in the moment, is the beginning of her finding someone who's going through the same grief that she is.
